The League of Women Voters Edina welcomes Professor Timothy R. Johnson to speak at its 70th Annual Meeting. He will discuss The Supreme Court and the Separation of Powers on Thursday, May 8, at St. Alban's Church in Edina at 6:30 pm. This talk is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
The U.S. Federal Government is facing a clear constitutional crisis in terms of which branch holds power and whether branches can place checks and balances on one another. The U.S. Supreme Court has set standards for how the branches interact. University of Minnesota Professor Timothy R. Johnson will discuss these standards and what they mean for the current crisis.
Professor Johnson is the Horace T. Morse Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Law at the University of Minnesota. He has published 48 articles/chapters, two monographs, and six books including SCOTUS and COVID (2023), Oral Arguments and Coalition Formation on the U.S. Supreme Court (2012), A Good Quarrel (2009), and Oral Arguments and Decision Making on the U.S. Supreme Court (2004). In 2024, he was appointed to the advisory board of the Brown v. Board of Education Revisited Project.
