Join us for LWVSP's "Learn with the League" April program featuring a discussion about firearms and society at "Looking Beyond the Headlines of Firearms Violence" on Tuesday, April 26, 7:00pm - 8:00pm.

The guest speaker is Marti Micks, Co-Chair of the LWV MN Firearms Update Study Committee, and president of LWV Golden Valley. Ms. Micks will provide context and background to the League's update study on firearms. The common misconceptions of firearm violence will be highlighted, along with a review of statistical information the committee found and a discussion about possible solutions to reduce deaths from firearms.

Marti Micks is a retired social studies teacher from the Osseo School District. She served eight years on the Golden Valley City Council and Housing & Redevelopment Authority and was a civilian management analyst for the U.S. Army in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. A LWV member since 1976, Micks served as President of LWVMN from 2018-2019. She has served on several local studies, as well as county, CMAL, and state studies.
