The League of Women Voters St. Paul (LWVSP), in partnership with Citizens for Election Integrity Minnesota (CEIMN), explores absentee voting and voting by mail in the upcoming free program, "Neither Rain nor Sleet nor Gloom of Pandemic: Safe Voting from Home in 2020.” It will be presented online via Zoom on Tuesday, October 6, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Moderated by Mark Halvorson of CEIMN, the program will feature a short presentation by David Triplett, Ramsey County Elections Manager, followed by a conversation with Mark, David, and You. A representative of the United States Postal Service is unable to join the program.

The program discussion will center around integrity and trust in the system, and how the USPS and elections officials have standards to keep the vote safe.  Featured topics include:
  • Absentee v Mail in ballots: what's the difference, how are they counted and when are they counted, how are they verified, % rejected - reasons for rejection
  • Standards the Post Office has to follow regarding absentee ballots and they work with each state requirements to ensure integrity in the system
  • Protocols in place to ensure that your ballot will be secure and accurately counted
  • What individual voters can do to enhance confidence that their vote will be counted
