Featured speakers of the event are Vicki Barnes, Volunteer MN State Coordinator for American Promise* and Take Back Our Republic**, and Richard Painter, author of Taxation Only With Representation and Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota.
Learn how we can correct bad Supreme Court decisions that have resulted in our inability to regulate campaign spending that has allowed big moneyed special interest groups to influence our elections and our policies. Learn how corporate spending in our elections has created corporate consolidation and market concentration that has limited our choices and increased our cost of living.
This event is free and open to the public.
*American Promise is a cross-partisan, non-profit group working solely on the passage of an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to clarify that only natural persons have rights protected under the Constitution, and the spending of money to influence elections is not speech under the First Amendment; therefore, campaign spending shall be regulated and must be disclosed.
**Take Back Our Republic is a non-partisan organization that advocates for conservative solutions to campaign finance reform.
